Rap n stuff

Greeting and Salutations my fellow Homo Sapiens Sapiens (something tells me I capitalized unnecessarily on some of those words, BuT FUcK YoUR RUles, i dO wHaT i wANT). It's been a long while since I last wrote, and of course, I apologize for that, but summer vacation has descended upon this land, and I find that having many hours a day where I'm doing absolutely nothing is extremely taxing on my ability to write coherent sentences with any kind of rhyme or rhythm to it all, which incidentally leads me pretty flawlessly into my ze topic of ze day, ze rap music. (get it? rhyme or rhythm? sometimes I wonder why I'm single, I mean seriously, all a woman wants in her life is a man who segues flawlessly isn't it????) But yeah, ze rap music. My latest musical excursion has been a foray into the dark art of Rapping/creating Rap Music, and it's probably been one of the most difficult things I've ever done. I've dabbled with wordsmithery for the last 5-6 years (just like every other pubescent boy who's not good at talking to girls) and even beyond the awkwardly hilariously tragic declaration of love poem, into the more serious, exploration of my mind and the world around me type stuff, and the response on it has always been decent, which of course lead me to believe that I was a l337 MLG PRO HARDCORE 70 PRESTIGE WITH 99 WORDSMITHING ( to you, the gamer in midst of readers,) but rapping has really brought me back down to earth in a most impressive manner. It's "easy" to write a poem (the quotations of course signifying how not easy it is (I'm supplying that little note because some people apparently don't understand quotations, what hell's their problem anyway?),) but rapping in step with a beat and in the kind of tone of voice that fits the music around you is extremely difficult to do well, and it's given me a whole a whole new respect for rappers (good ones at least, I still have no time or space for "I GOT HOES IN DIFFERENT AREA CODES!!" that shit needs to crawl in a hole and die) but good, thought out, musically intelligent rap is a true pleasure to listen to, and I'm hoping to somehow synthesize a bit of what that sounds like in my mind with this new project, which, if all goes well, should have some material on the internezt by this fall (shameless selfplugging like a BAWS.)

I think that was all I had to say for now about that, and of course, I will try to refrain from making any promises about any times for my posts, as that will crash and burn miserably, however I can say that I probably won't write for a few weeks, as I'm entering an artistic refuge where I plan on writing some deep lyricz for da peepz (seriously though, why the hell am I still single, I'm so damn smooth,) but I assure you, upon my return from my douchy artistic reclusion, I will have much to talk to you, my adored reader, about. Until next time, enjoy my music of the day, which is a song off of Kanye West's new album, which leaked rather serendipitously the same day other competing rap albums leaked, which just proves to me that a leak ain't a leak at all! So so long dear reader, stay safe, and don't be content being an average schnook, be an above-average schnook!

Feeling Bashful

"A post a week. That's what he promised. A post a week, he said, and we received nothing. A pound of flesh is what we demand, a pound of flesh for his transgressions!" I hope that you, dear reader, understood that multitude of references, cause knowing my irregularity with posting, it might take me a month to explain it in a different post. I won't even apologize for the delay,  cause I know you've come to expect nothing more of me, and that's ok, I love you too. Anyhow, how've you been? (it's funny cause I know you won't be able to fill me in on the on the no doubt fascinating occurrences in your daily life, and if you do, I commend you stubbornness)  Either way, I've been great, so great in fact, that I've couldn't be bothered to write, but such is life. For those of you not heartlinked to me by the great machine known as Facebook, I would like to inform you that I recently turned 17. This is, of course, a big year for me, as the law now allows me to do the exact same things it allowed me to do last year, which is pretty huge of course. I celebrated my coming-of-unimportant-age in style, going to the Distortion festival with a friend, got crunk (as the youth of today so eloquently put it) and then had one of the better band practices I've had so far. The days after that followed the same trend, music, playing and partying to the Distortion festival, just generally having the greatest time I've had in as long time as I can remember.  Anyway, I didn't really want to make that much of a post today, just wanted to keep you up to date on the happenings in my little piece of heaven. This week's piece of music is quite a bit more close to my heart than any of the others, but I genuinely believe that you must listen to it, for it is a musical masterpiece. Pink Floyd has been one of the key bands that I've discovered this year, and look out for these kids they'll be something special one day! (god I'm too funny for my own good) I'm linking Welcome To The Machine for two reasons, one because it's fucking genius song, and also because I early this week met someone that one could call a record label person, and he really represented the machine in a way that I found pretty great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lt-udg9zQSE

so yeah, that's all for now, stay safe, don't bite any porcupines, cause they will mess your mouth the fuck up, like this dog that's been circulating around the internetz, I want to link a picture, but the very thought of googling it makes me want to roll up into a ball and cry like a little girl, so I'll leave that up to yeah.

Artsy Fartsy

Helloooooooo,

so like remember that time when I said that I would post once every week? Yeah, that didn't happen, and I apologize for that. However, I will say, that if you read my previous post on procrastination, you shouldn't really be that surprised. I'm writing because it dawned upon me that I had made a quasi-promise, and according to great men like James Bond, Jules Verne, and Indiana Jones, a great man ain't great if he doesn't keep his word. (quick disclaimer: I haven't actually thought of a topic for this post yet, I'm just hopelessly filling out space with words while I search my (über cheesy alert) heart for a topic.) (holy shitballs, did I just put a parentheses within a parentheses? I'm not even sure if that's legal #breakinrulesoftheenglishlanguage.) So yeah a topic. I think I've got something.
Today I got to act. It's not the first time, I've acted a bunch of times before ("hell, I played Dr. Martin Luther King jr. in 7th grade!" he said with pride) For some reason though, today it meant a lot more to me. My good friend Preben/Laura had written a so-called play, and when ze time came for ze epic monologue, I froze up and herpderped ( to my older readers (if I have any of those) that means that I went blank for a moment) and that made me seriously reconsider what the hell I was doing. The second time came by, and it actually went pretty reasonably well. It made me think that maybe I can do this acting hullaballoo (btw, the brit that invented that word deserve ALL THE MEDALS). But yeah, my point here is that all this acting business might be something I keep doing for fun, and maybe, if my ego gets really inflated, I might even post some of it of the youtubez, but I doubt that so don't hold your proverbial breath.
The music of the day is a song by my favorite South African composer, Hugh Masekela, who has had a huge influence on how I play, and incidentally how I feel about my African roots and such, which might be the topic for next time, we shall see. Until then, stay safe, watch out the bats cause this is Bat Country, and don't take any guff from these damn swine. Enjoy ze life dear friends!

dammit i forgot

In an attempt to create some kind of congruence within posts, I endeavor to, from now on, link some music to each and every post of mine, since that's one of the few things I feel I can express an opinion about each and every day. Having said that, my link for the last post is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFjMeOnqAPI . This is Gary Clark Jr. Gary Clark Jr is epic. I'm going to see Gary Clark Jr live in a month. That makes me very happy. For those of you who live in Copenhagen, the tickets for the concert at still available, and remarkably cheap, so if you want to experience an epic concert with ze present company, I suggest you do so.

Procrastination, to do it or not to do it

Hello hello blogosphere (look at me using clever blogger slang hehehoho).

I choose now to write solely because I have to hide from the biggest written assignment of the year for a little bit, since the very thought of writing even another word about Hamlet and how he's a total wackjob makes me want to smack little children. ( hide yo kids, hide yo wife haha) Incidentally enough, this very desperate ploy to avoid actual work leads me rather elegantly into todays topic: ze procrastination. Yes my dear friends, I've descended to writing about banal topics like procrastination, and there's nothing you can do to stop me muahahaha. See I like to see myself as a master procrastinator (although that is a bit of a misquote because I truly hate it, like seriously wtf??) Being a master procrastinator is hard work though. It demands perfect sync between the body and the mind, where the mind has to be able to communicate to the body swiftly and effectively that we're not getting jackshit done today (pardon the profanity, but then again not really, cause seriously, get over yourself). This lightning fast signalsending is a skill that takes many months to hone, but we are a select few that are simply born with the ability, and it is our job to proliferate, to proselytize (holy god man, look at how beautiful that word is, I just want to walk around saying it all day), to preach our remarkable ways to the people. My point with all this is that I have absolutely no point at all, and just needed to escape the written assignment for as long as possible, in an attempt to somehow let my ideas about the project sit and marinate in my inner brain folds before I reenter the fearsome arena of war and terror and bloodshed that is Windows Word 2013, and the many hundreds of letters that I've typed so far, and more importantly, the many thousands I have yet to type. Until next time my dear friend, my co-traveller of the internets, my compadre in all things wwwrelated, the Chewie to my Han, the Penn to my Teller, the nutella to my bread product, I wish you good day, and good luck.

lørdag den 27. april 2013

So like I found this hilarious post, and I was laughing and laughing and laughing, but then I realised that this would never be me, then I was sad. Here's the post: http://metro.co.uk/2013/04/25/omar-borkan-al-gala-meet-the-man-told-to-leave-saudi-arabia-for-being-too-handsome-3666281/

On again, off again

So hello again.

It occurred to me the other day that I actually didn't hate ze whole blogosphere that much, and twould seem that my past posts made at least a few people crack a smile, so I shall continue these shenanigans for at least a little while. I might as well supply a quick disclaimer though, I am procrastination personaified, but also extremely busy, so there will be some irregularity between posts, but I shall try my best to post at least once a week.
ANYHOW, a quick update since ze last time. On the music front, I'm in the process of setting up jobs pretty much every weekend, and some weekdays, so thats all peaches and gravy. (I have a feeling I grossly butchered that expression because seriously, peaches and gravy sounds remarkably disgusting) Apart from zis, I have finally created some semblance of a quintet that one could almost call a real band, which is a very subdued and clumsy segue into ze topic of the day. As a musician, (or maybe even as a person, I know not) the word ego gets thrown around very loosely, and I'm not sure where I stand on it. Personally, i accept that i have a reasonably large ego. I've played in large bands and small bands, and each time, I've thought "man, i wish i could be the frontman for this band!" It's a childish thought I know, but hey, I never said I mature (a logic that I wish applied to all aspects of life: "the defendant has been sentenced to life in prison for murder, how do you plea? " Ey, I never said I wasn't a murderer!") Excuse that short deviation, it made more sense in my head. Anyhow, I suppose my point is that I want to be frontman in a band, and theres nothing I can really do to change that feeling, so yeah, pointless ramblings galore. On a completely different note, in exchange for your kind attentions, I would like to suggest some music to you. Eric Clapton=God. We've all heard it before, and while I don't necessarily agree, this song is pretty magnificent, so check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_j9KEjrY4o . Also, if you find yourself looking for a movie to watch, I strongly suggest watching Cadillac Records, it has badass guitarists and singers, and Beyonce looking as ridonkulous as ever (Yes my dear reader, I used the word ridonkulous, sue me!) For real though, watch it, it gives a great insight as to how the modern RnB record company was born. Until next time, *insert awesome signoff phrase that I'm desperately fumbling in the dark to find*

Popes and Things

So I know this isn't really about music at all, but as most of you know, a new pope was elected yesterday. I won't really say much about this except that he's quite a bit too conservative for my taste, and that the old one looked like The Emperor from Star Wars, which makes him at least 10 times more epic. I strongly believe that this is how the "election" went down, and they played it to this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfPg_GzC-HA

I leave you with a mental image of cardinals and bishops dancing the hokey-pokey. If that's not a hoot, I don't know what is!

awesome friends

So some of my friends in my class have really epic-tastic blogs (they all do, but I especially enjoy these), and in the interest of being a real bro-seph, I wanted to show them to you. The first one is Astrid, she's got soul from head to toe. The second one is LauraPreben, she writes about her friend Binzer, and yeaaah she's crazy! Enjoy the goodies

So like music

Hello again world (again with the pompousness, I swear this is going to become a recurring theme in this blog escapade.)As I reread my last post, I feel like I sounded like the most rude and arrogant little man ever, and I apologize for that. I realize (perhaps a little late) that sarcastic tone is hard to get across in text, so yeah, my bads.
So I spent the better part of the days after my last post trying to figure out what on earth to write about, and it only really struck me now. In the middle of math class (my priorities are interesting like that.)
So yeah, music.
As I alluded to in my last post, I am a musician (or at least I like to think I am) and this of course has changed my life. But I'm not going to talk about me just yet. (Ok yes I am but it'll indirect so don't pay attention to that.) I wish more people played music, cause then I wouldn't have to use words so much. Music is the single language where you can communicate with literally anybody, as long as they're willing to listen. If everyone spoke music, we wouldn't have to fumble over words and languages and translations and all that jazz (heh). If everyone spoke music, I could go up to a groovy chick,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNHx27sSdrk (god I can't believe I used that phrase, but I'm trying to appeal to a broad demographic here) play a sweet little lick that conveys how I feel, and she'd either play a sweet lick back if she dug it, or stay silent if she didn't. (Ok enough appealing to 80's soul brothers and sisters, it's not like they're going to read this thing anyhow.)
My point is that I really wish that I could communicate musically with everyone, which I suppose is why I want my music to succeed, so I can communicate with the masses. Without words. Words suck. They suck butt. Like hippo butt. Like this butt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQCQ4nvn3Is
peace, love coconuts and passion fruits (mmmmmmm passion)

Ps. (cause I can): I plan on getting tattoos on my arms (cause I'm a foolish youth who has no concept of the permanence of tattoos, and how it could affect my life.) I'll link them so you can look at them and tell me what you think. If you feel like it. It's fine if you dont. Like really, it's cool.

So it occured to me that I actually have had a moment of inspiration of wordsmithery about music, so I shall link that here: https://www.facebook.com/notes/paakow-tawiah/read-this-or-dont-either-way-im-writing-it-its-up-to-you-whether-you-want-to-rea/1015117042279117

Love, peace, papaya, and oranges!

C

Hello world, (although it is pretty pompous to assume that the whole world is somehow going to read this blog tomfoolery, but yeah, I digress!)  I never got the whole blog thing, this I must admit, but in an attempt to placate my teacher of the mutated offspring of West Germanic and Anglo-Frisian tribal languages (English), who hath bestowed this grand quest upon quests on my meek and willing shoulders, I kneel to the powers that be. (tl;dr: I'm only doing this because my English teacher is making me.) Anyhow, introductions. My name is, officially Seyram Papa Ekow (Paakow) Tawiah, but since we've been through so much together already, you may call me Paakow. I'm 16 years old, and currently spend my time in the great city of Copenhagen, Denmark. By spend my time, I of course mean that I live here, with my mother and my uniquely devilish twin sisters, whom I will no doubt mention at a later date. I currently study at the Saint Anne school, where I study music, history and multiple languages. Vous savez, je parle le danois, le francais, et l'anglais parfaitemment, parce que je suis un vrai linguiste. "Aaaaaagh, he spoke french, and I don't know what to do!" Calm yourself dear friend, I just glorified myself and my ego in french, one of three languages I speak. So yeah, music. Music is what I do for fun, and, most of the time, for a "living." I can't really put to words how I feel about music exactly, but I will try in later posts, when I feel that wordsmithery is what I feel like doing. I play the trombone (yes, I chose the instrument myself) and I also play guitar and sing on occasion to large crowds like the mirror in my room, the posters in my room, or, when I'm feeling really adventurous, the books in my room. Oooh books, that's another thing. As you may have deduced from my rather odd intro, I am a history freak. Like pretty intensely so. I find so much inspiration in history, so much depth and excitement in the fact that the effects of the Seven Years War (a war that actually lasted 9, or arguably even 13 years) still can be felt today, and still affect us today. History is the web of threads that binds all of humanity together, and we shouldn't take that for granted. Sorry if that got a little preachy, I do that at times. So now that you know about maybe 10% about me, I think I'll end this here, knowing that the general attention span of people in our generation is VERY short, but yeah. Peace, loves, pineapples and mangos.
